Writers and editors must disclose any relationship that could create — or reasonably appear to create — a conflict of interest before accepting or beginning an assignment. This includes personal and professional relationships where the writer has a stake in how the subject is perceived. Disclosed conflicts will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis by the editor, and may result in reassignment or a published disclosure note.
